1937 Delage D6-70 Chapron
Registration: Belgian registered
Chassis number: 51386
Engine number: 51368
This fabulous looking Art-Deco or to be precise “Streamline Moderne” bodywork was designed by the great Henry Chapron and supplied by the pre-war UK Delage dealer University Motors.
The car runs and drives as you would expect from such a refined manufacturer and has ample power from its 6 cylinder 3 Litre engine
Introduced at the October 1930 Paris Salon, the Delage D6 was designed by Maurice Gaultier, fitted with a 3045cc OHV engine and allied to a four-speed ‘cotal’ gearbox. Beautifully built, the D6 was based around a sturdy ladder frame chassis equipped with all round leaf sprung suspension and four-wheel drum brakes. Just 1160 D6’s are thought to have left the Parisian factory.
This beautiful 1937 has been owned by a Belgian collector for many years, the car has benefited from restoration to the bodywork, interior and mechanicals with a recent engine rebuild in Holland. Having spent considerable time in the South of France, the car was a regular contender in the rallies with the French Delage club.
Described as in good to excellent condition all round, this wonderful tourer is a fabulous addition to any serious collection.
Undergoing a complete documented engine rebuild at this moment.
